Our Cottage Defense Blend was thoughtfully crafted to be your go-to herbal ally in every season — whether you’re supporting your immune system, soothing seasonal allergies, or caring for your lungs and throat.


This well-rounded, nourishing blend combines immune-supportive herbs like elderberries, echinacea, and tulsi with respiratory soothers like marshmallow root, elecampane, and linden. Antioxidant-rich nettle and calming lemon balm offer gentle relief for seasonal sensitivities, while cinnamon, ginger, and peppermint bring warmth, balance, and aromatic comfort to every cup.


Sip daily to stay well, or steep it stronger when your body needs a little extra support. Perfect for year-round use as a preventative tonic or a comforting remedy during times of imbalance.

elderberries, echinacea, tulsi, lemon balm, ginger root, stinging nettle, elecampane root, lemon peel, yarrow, meadowsweet, marshmallow root, linden flower, self-heal, cinnamon, peppermint

Brewing Instructions

Brewing this loose-leaf tea is simple and can be adjusted to taste. For best results, prepare it as follows:

1. Measure: Use about 1–2 teaspoons of the Cottage Defense Blend per 1 cup (8 oz) of water. For a stronger medicinal infusion (during acute illness), you can use up to 1 tablespoon of the blend per cup. If brewing a whole pot, use roughly 1 heaping tablespoon per 2 cups of water as a guideline.

2. Steep: Pour boiling water over the herbs. Cover the cup or teapot and let the tea steep for 10–15 minutes. A longer steep time (even up to 20 minutes) is beneficial here, as it allows the roots and berries in the blend to release their compounds fully . The covering helps retain aromatic oils and heat.

3. Strain & Enjoy: After steeping, strain out the herbs.  Drink the tea warm for best soothing effects. The flavor is fruity-spicy with gentle minty and earthy notes; many find it pleasant plain, but you may add honey or a squeeze of lemon to enhance taste and augment the cough/soothing action (honey is a natural demulcent and antimicrobial as well).

4. Dosage: For general immune maintenance, enjoy 1–2 cups daily throughout the week. It’s gentle enough to drink regularly as a preventative tonic. During active cold or flu symptoms, you can drink 3–4 cups per day (e.g. one cup every few hours) to provide continuous support. Because it’s caffeine-free and relaxing, it’s appropriate to drink in the evening or before bed if desired. In fact, a warm mug before bedtime can help relieve nighttime cough and congestion, thanks to herbs like linden and marshmallow.

Store in a cool, dry place. Mix before each use.
